The ENDS of the wood fibers are pointing up, allowing the blade to slide right between them once struck. These marks, if shallow will “fade” away as the fibers expand and contract, all the while preserving the blade sharpness.
Measures a full 14″ X 18″ which would be considered on the larger side.
